Q. What is Adobe Acrobat and why do I need it?
A.

Adobe Acrobat (pdf files) is the worldwide standard for document handling. Acrobat can be downloaded for free over the Internet by clicking here or on one of the links. We chose this tool because it provides "what you see is what you get" functionality. Your scroll will appear exactly how you see it in the document. You can take this document to almost any professional print shop or print the document on most home printers.

Q. What is the difference between as standard and custom scroll?
A.

Scrolls By Design is the only place where you can get a Today in History scroll built to your specifications. But, many people do not need this level of customization. You need only select your border, enter the name and date to create a Standard Scroll. If you feel more adventurous, you can create a Custom Scroll, which allows you to upload a photo, control the topics and items displayed, and add your own text. Q. Can I have my scroll framed?
A.

Yes, framing is an option that you can choose at checkout. See the Pricing page for price and selection information.

Q. I am having problems printing my scroll on my home printer. What can I do?
A.

Unfortunately, every printer is a little different. We designed the borders so that they would fit within the print margins of most printers. Try first to adjust the printer's margins. If that does not work, take the file to a local print shop. Fortunately, printing should be inexpensive. Most printers charge less that $2 for an 11x14 color page.

Q. Where can I get my scroll printed and how much does it cost?
A.

Unlike other sites, we deliver the file to you so you can print it anywhere you wish and as often as you want. It is simple to get your scroll printed. You might want to start by printing from your home or office printer. You can also take the file to your local printer. We have found that most printers charge less than $2 for a full color 11x14 inch page. Note that some printers do not print on 11x14 inch paper, so you may need to print on an 11x17 page and then cut the page to fit.

Q. I bought one size of scroll but now want another size. How do I get another size.
A.

We offer discounts on other sizes and borders. Go to My Account where you will see your scroll under My Scrolls / Previously Purchased Scrolls. Click on Change Border or Size and Reorder to start the process.

Q. I was unable to download my scroll, it did not come in e-mail, or I lost the file. What do I do?
A. You can always go back and re-download a scroll once you have purchased it. Click on My Scrolls under My Account, select the scroll that you want another copy of and click download.
Q. Why is there a "DRAFT" watermark on my scroll?
A.

The watermark is removed when you purchase the scroll. We allow you to download the draft prior to your purchase.

Q. I purchased a scroll but now want to change the border. Can I do that?
A. We offer discounts on other sizes and borders. Go to   My Account where you will see your scroll under My Scrolls / Previously Purchased Scrolls. Click on Change Border or Size and Reorder to start the process.
Q. I own a gift shop. How do I sell your product in my store?
A.

Q. I would like to sell your scrolls at my Flee Market booth. Can that be done?
A. Yes, you can access our website via a mobile internet connection or landline. Armed with a printer, you can deliver the scrolls at your booth while the customer waits. Click here to see information on our reseller program.
Q. I found an error in one of the items. How do I report it?
A.

We have made every effort to validate our data, but sometimes mistakes happen. Please notify us at errors@scrollsbydesign.com. Please let us know if you would like us to correct your previously purchased scroll.

Q. I made a mistake on my scroll? What do I do now?
A.

We understand that mistakes sometimes happen. We will correct errors in dates and typographical errors without charge. Just send an e-mail to customerservice@scrollsbydesign.com. Include your user name and attach the scroll or indicate which one it is. Also indicate what the error is.

Q. Can I sell your scrolls as a fundraiser project?
A.

Q. My photo will not upload. What do I do?
A. First, verify that the file meets the size requirements and is in one of the following formats: jpg, jpeg, gif or png. If you are still having problem, send us an e-mail at customerservice@scrollsbydesign.com.
Q. My photo is not centered properly. What do I do?
A. You need to make sure that you size and crop your photo prior to uploading it. The system will re-size the photo to fit the available space but will not distort the image. Make sure to check the correct box indicating if the image is portrait or landscape.
Q. Can I fax in my order?
A. Yes, click here to download our brochure and fax order form. There is a nominal additional charge for faxed orders.
Q. Why should I create an account?
A.

We store work-in-progress files in your account. This means that you can leave the site and come back and finish a scroll at a later date. We also allow you to download drafts that you can test print prior to purchase. Finally, you can later come back and change borders or scrolls sizes if you have an account.

Q. Where did you get your information?
A.

Endless research! We review numerous new sources everyday to gather news and information to update our site. We also spent countless hours reading newspapers, books, and Internet sites while creating our database. Our fingers still hurt from all the typing!

Q. There are no news items for the specific date that I selected. What can I do?
A.

We have attempted to cover the days that we feel are most likely to be asked for. Unfortunately, we have not completed adding data for all dates yet. As you might imagine, there are a lot of dates to cover, especially for Anniversary scrolls. Send us an e-mail at missingdates@scrollsbydesign.com if there is a date that you would like to see added for your scroll. We will do our best to add new data as quickly as we can. 

Q. Is my privacy protected?
A.

We respect your privacy. Please review our Privacy Policy. Note that we do not retain credit card information on this site.
